From First to Last (shortened into FFTL) is an American Post-hardcore band. The band recently signed to Suretone Records. T.

Formation and Aesthetic

From First To Last was formed by guitarist Matt Good during high school under the name of "First Too Last". Once Travis joined the band the name changed to From First to Last, and multiple members were in and out of the band including long time drummer of first too last, Steve. Eventually a solid line up was formed, with vocalist Philip Reardon, guitarist Travis Richter, bassist Joey Antillon and drummer Derek Bloom. The band then released the EP Aesthetic on Four Leaf Recordings. After releasing Asthetic, they went on tour with Cupid Chokehold.

Dear Diary, My Teenage Angst Has A Bodycount

After Aesthetic, Philip Reardon and Joey Antillon eventually left the band. Their bassist spot was soon filled by Jon Weisberg. They originally decided to have one of their guitarists, and founding members, Matt Good to be their leader singer as well, but Good had some trouble playing his many guitar parts while singing as well. Over MySpace, Matt came in contact with a guitarist from California by the name of Sonny Moore. Moore flew out to Georgia, where Dear Diary was being recorded, and was set to be the band's second guitarist. However, when the other bands members heard Moore sing, they decided that he was much better suited for lead singer than guitarist, and so the new line up was created.

Dear Diary was released on June 29th, 2004. This album was where FFTL gained a great deal of their fandom, and their frontman, Sonny Moore, grew to become a somewhat idol amongst listening teenagers.

Heroine

The band went to Weed, California to record their second album, produced by Ross Robinson.

As their previous bassist Weisberg had left the band, Ross Robinson asked Wes Borland, former Limp Bizkit guitarist, to play bass on their second full length Heroine. He later played several tours with the band.

The band toured the US several months before the release of the album, during which they played the song "Shame, Shame" from the upcoming album.

The album was released on March 21, 2006. Shortly thereafter, they signed to major label Capitol Records.

The band then did a short European Tour with various bands, one of which included a one off show with 36 Crazyfists in Sheffield in the UK and the Download Festival. The band then played several dates on the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, but were forced to drop out due to surgical removal of a nodule on Moore's vocal chords (This was the third time Moore had problems with his vocal chords). They went out on the World Championship Tour supporting Atreyu along with Every Time I Die and Chiodos. While on that tour, Moore once again had vocal chord problems and had to immediately go to a nearby hospital. Having a booked show later that night, guitarist's Matt and Travis decided to cover up Sonny for lead vocals and place Sonny on guitar. Instead of this, singer of Chiodos, Craig Owens, insisted that he sing lead vocals for their set for a few nights. After all these events on the tour, Atreyu's singer Alex, decided that FFTL was not eligible for the tour.

FFTL have been recording their upcoming album by themselves, in the studio where they had recorded "Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has A Bodycount". A trailer for their upcoming "making of" webisodes, being made exclusively for The KVLT was posted on myspace, featuring short clips from some of their new songs.

Moore's Departure

In February 2007, lead singer Sonny Moore left FFTL to pursue his solo career. The following is taken from The KVLT:

There are many rumors going around right now about our band, and we have finally ended up in a position to be able to share with you what has happened over the last couple months since the Atreyu Tour fiasco, the cancellation of the Lostprophets tour, and our backing out of the Give It A Name festival.
Sonny Moore has quit the band and is working on a solo career. We (Good, Richter, Bloom and Matt Manning -- now an official member, by the way) were in the studio writing for the new record getting ready to fly to Los Angeles to meet up with Ross Robinson and Sonny when we got the news about him leaving.
We know that Sonny's departure is going to be a huge deal to a lot of our fans, and we are sorry that these things continue to happen to us (and you). We all tried to make compromises, but sometimes artists just have to do things for themselves.
To make matters worse, Capitol Records was on the verge of being bought out by another label and bands were being dropped. Money was put on hold from the label and with FFTL already in debt due to the Atreyu tour and studio costs..... Well, we were pretty much crippled.
We had a decision to make that night at the studio that I will never forget... This was the most epic, movie-worthy event of my life. We just said, "Screw this. Let's just do it ourselves. The whole thing -- just us four." The good news is Sonny leaving meant that the band had to make changes. And so, that is exactly what we have been doing over the last couple of months -- self-producing the new From First to Last album, without a record label or Sonny.
To get the ball rolling, I quickly called my friend Lee Dyess who owns the EarthSound studio in Valdosta, GA where we recorded "dear diary" and "aesthetic" (we also helped him build it), and arranged for the studio time which cost us the rest of our money and favors from Lee. We also teamed up with our close friend Jordan Schur who is not only managing us now, but signed our band to his label Suretone (through Interscope).
Matt Good is now fronting the band along with vocals from myself and Manning. We are extremely excited about this record, and we are stoked to be singing again. Thank you everyone so much for all of your support, and to the U.K....we are really sorry you seem to have taken the worst from this, we are gonna make it up this year we promise.

Moore has since posted eight songs, "Signal", "Equinox", "Glow Worm", "Concentrical", "Copaface" "Moss" "I Know Where You Are" and "Nod Love" on his MySpace.

The Color of Violence

The Color of Violence was a band featuring drummer Derek Bloom and guitarist/backup vocalist Travis Richter. Travis was unable to accompany the band on a tour, so David of Cowboys Became Folk Heroes became the new vocalist one day before it started without ever having heard the songs. Currently, the Color of Violence is Travis and Derek; they go by the names of Guy Nucleosity and Glitch Killgasm.

The KVLT

The KVLT(The Cult) is the official fan club of From First To Last. The KVLT features two versions. One, a members section, which you pay for. This section includes exclusive audio/video/photos, member blogs, private band chats, and exclusive news. The second version, or public version, consists of a message board run by Erin Dyer. The public version was originally the fftl.net message board before the band asked Erin to change it. FFTL.net is still up, however. Pronunciation of The KVLT includes: The Cult, The K-V-L-T, and rarely, The Kuhvolt.

• "Christmassacre" - Found on the Taste of Christmas compilation album (2005). This song does not feature Moore's vocals, as he was in surgery at the time. Instead, Good took over lead vocals while Ritcher did screaming.
