Regarding user talk pages, it is best to not delete notices, but instead, to archive them. You can find how to do this at [[Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page]]. Actively erasing non-harassing personal messages is often interpreted as hostile. In the past, this kind of behavior has been viewed as [[Wikipedia:Civility|uncivil]].
