Kasali Yinka Casal (born October 21, 1987 in London) is a soccer midfielder who formerly played for D.C. United in Major League Soccer.[1]

He is a dual citizen of United Kingdom and Nigeria.

Career

Professional

D.C. United acquired Casal via discovery and signed him to a senior contract on February 2, 2007. He had been the leading scorer for Fulham F.C.'s reserve squad for the 2005-06 season.[2] After appearing in 4 matches, totaling 105 minutes and one assist, Casal asked for release forms because he was not happy and he wanted to pursue his career in Europe July 2, 2007.[3]

International

Casal played with the U-20 Nigeria national football team in an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Rwanda in September, 2006. He had previously been called up to the Nigerian U-20s for the 2005 FIFA World Youth Championship. Casal has been called up by the Nigerian Olympic Team in July 2007

Youth

Raised in the Hammersmith area of London,[4] Casal joined the Fulham youth academy in 2003 at the age of 16 and earned a spot on the full team reserve side two years later. Prior to turning pro in soccer, Casal ran track for London's Shaftesbury Barnet Harriers. He was a long jumper and was on a 4x100 relay team that still holds the British U-13 record (50.32 seconds).[3]
