In September 2006, Motocross des Nations was held at a newly built track in Matterly Basin near Winchester in the south of England. On the Friday of the race weekend a massive downpour of rain looked like it may ruin the weekend, however efforts by the track crew ensured the race would run as expected. The crew worked hard through the night and morning preparing the track and did an excellent job as the track was in near perfect condition come Saturday's practice. Another downpour on Saturday night into Sunday morning made for perfect racing conditions on Sunday, as the event ran smoothly all day with clear skies and sun.

The Motocross des Nations motocross race is an annual "team" event, where riders representing their country meet at what is billed as the "Olympics of Motocross".

2007 Event

As of 2007, des Nations has been renamed the "Motocross of Nations" to reflect the official language of the host country, the United States. The event will be held at Budds Creek, Maryland, where last year's champion, Team USA, will be looking to defend their title.
