In September 2006, Motocross des Nations was held at a purpose-built track at Matterley Basin near Winchester in the south of England, which had previously been used only for the Grand Prix of Great Britain in June the same year. On the Friday of the race weekend a massive downpour of rain appeared to ruin the weekend, however efforts by the track crew ensured the race would run as expected. Hard work through the night and morning to restore the track paid off as the track was in near perfect condition come Saturday's practice. Another downpour on Saturday night into Sunday morning made for perfect racing conditions on Sunday, as the event ran smoothly all day with clear skies and sun. |

2007 Event
As of 2007, des Nations has been renamed the "Motocross of Nations" to reflect the official language of the host country, the United States. The event will be held at Budds Creek, Maryland, where last year's champion, Team USA, will be looking to defend their title.
