Shad Gaspard (born January 11 1981) is an American professional wrestler of Haitian and Curaçaon descent.[3] He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment as a member of the RAW brand,[2] on which he is one half of the tag team Cryme Tyme with his partner JTG.
Career
Gaspard was extensively involved in sports in high school, specializing in wrestling, track and basketball. He continued to play basketball in college, and after leaving, according to his MySpace biography, he became a No Holds Barred fighter (35-7) and amateur boxer (57-26), and also worked as a bodyguard for several rappers and actors; including Puff Daddy, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Mike Tyson.[3]
World Wrestling Entertainment (2005-)
Gaspard then decided to become a professional wrestler. He qualified for the finals of the jointly WWE/MTV produced reality program Tough Enough 2 in 2002, but was disqualified and replaced after failing a physical. He kept trying to become a wrestler, and shortly after his 21st birthday he attended Tom Prichard's first Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) "training camp", after which he was offered an opportunity to return to train full time. He debuted in OVW in 2003 under the ring name Da Beast,[4] eventually joining Kenny Bolin's Bolin Services stable. Originally he acted as Bolin's personal enforcer, until in February 2004 he was placed into a tag team with Carlos Colón.
After Colón left OVW in October 2004 Gaspard left Bolin Services and formed a short lived tag team with Osama before beginning to wrestling under his real name as a singles wrestler. In June 2005, he was signed to a developmental contract by World Wrestling Entertainment, and in early 2006 he was joined by the Neighborhoodie in a new tag team.[5] The new team won the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship once[6] before being called up to the main WWE RAW brand roster as Cryme Tyme.
