History

Borer Data Systems Ltd are a UK manufacturer in the field of access control, alarm monitoring systems and attendance management.

Founded in 1975, Borer were the first company in Europe, in 1977, to offer a complete solution of a custom-designed card readers and software, intergrating access control, alarm monitoring and attendance recording on the same system.

The Borer access system has been designed to comply with EU environmental directives including RoHS (2002/95/EC) and WEEE (2002/96/EC).

Borer Data Systems have ISO 9001:2000 and are the first and only access control manufacturer to hold the “Secured by Design” licence.

Secured by Design licensed company status is awarded to those companies producing security products that pass standards and tests nominated by the police service as “Police Preferred Specification”.

Carbon Footprint

"A Carbon Footprint is a measure of the impact human activities have on the environment in terms of the amount of green house gases produced, measured in units of carbon dioxide." [1]

Instead of the conventional method of powering access control readers via power supply, Borer's access control system are powered via CAT5e cables resulting in less raw materials used and energy savings.

  • 1999 - Release of ATRACS (Automated Time Recorded Access Control and Safety) - A pioneer system amond UK based access manufactures, ATRACS was the only product to have it's own client/server capabilities allowing it to be implemented over the client's ethernet network system and across the sites using intranet/internet
  • 2000 - Release of ATRACS Web for Attendance Recording
  • 2001 - Release of first controller area network card access reader, using power over LAN technology
  • 2002 - Release of ATRACS Web for Visitor Management
