"Taking Chances" is the first single from Céline Dion's upcoming English album Taking Chances.[1] The song premiered on the radio on September 10 2007.[2] It was released as a digital download on September 18 2007 in the United States and September 26 2007 in Europe. "Taking Chances" CD single will be released on October 24 2007 in Japan[3] and October 26 2007 in Europe.[4]
The song was written by Kara DioGuardi and David A. Stewart from Eurythmics, and produced by John Shanks.[5]
"Taking Chances" was first recorded by Platinum Weird, a musical collaboration between DioGuardi and Stewart. It was included on their Platinum Weird album and released as the third single at the beginning of 2007.
Kara DioGuardi also wrote and co-produced with Emanuel "Eman" Kiriakou "Surprise Surprise," slated for release on Dion's forthcoming album.[6]
Céline Dion already worked with DioGuardi in the past. She recorded songs written by her for: A New Day Has Come ("Right in Front of You," "Sorry for Love") and One Heart ("One Heart," "Sorry for Love" 2003 version). The song "One Heart" was co-produced by John Shanks and Kara DioGuardi, and released as a single in 2003.
On September 17 2007, Dion finishd filming her new music video for "Taking Chances." The three day video shoot, directed by Paul Boyd, took place in several different locations in the Las Vegas area. The video will be narrative heavy, as only one of the three shoot days was spent on performance. It will include a guest appearance by Dave A. Stewart.[7]
