"Tar Wars"

"Tar Wars" is the 25th episode of Mighty Max TV series.

Plot

Underground construction beneath Hollywood uncovers some kind of prehistoric menace, and Max's mom disappears investigating. The group finds an immortal, superhumanly strong caveman named Gor (voice of Ron Perlman) who they at first believe to be responsible for kidnapping Max's mother, but find that he's actually "the world's first superhero," who was protecting her from a sabertooth tiger with identical powers. After unsuccessfully trying to stop the tiger from rampaging through Hollywood, Max excavates the meteor that gave it and Gor their powers. In the climax, Gor grabs the tiger, and both fall into the La Brea tar pits.

Educational Epilogue

Max is at his desk talking about the La Brea Tar Pits and the fossils that were recovered from it.

Trivia

This episode is based on the doom zone "Hellcat," although Gor was a antagonist in comic strip included on the back of the toy packaging, and in the toy a mamoth is included and inside the doom zone only sabre toothed cat skeletons can be seen, whereas in the episod a Smilodon is featured and only mammoth skeletons (bought to life by the meteor) appear.
