Tucker Max is an American fratire writer known for chronicling his sexual and drunken exploits on his website, Tuckermax.com. The site includes a message board and reportedly clocks 1 million-1.5 million unique visitors each month.[1] Max had previously published two modestly selling books, his latest effort, I Hope They Serve Beer in Hell, made the New York Times Best Seller list in both 2006 and 2007.[2]
Education and escapades
Max attended his final two years of high school at the private Blair Academy, Blairstown, New Jersey and subsequently graduated from University of Chicago. He went on to attend Duke University School of Law where he earned a J.D. degree.[3] While at Duke, he posted an online "dating application" which acted as the "springboard" to his launching of Tuckermax.com. The notoriety he received as a result led to his June 2003 appearance in "Sex2K", an episode of MTV's True Life.[4]
Legal troubles
In 2003, Max was court ordered to remove a story from his site which was a "tell all" account of his relationship with an ex-girlfriend and former Miss Vermont.[5] It was a less than flattering account and the alleged victim filed an invasion-of-privacy lawsuit. [6] The case was dismissed after the ACLU stepped in on Max's behalf claiming that the court had violated his First Amendment rights. [7]
Current and upcoming projects
In late 2006, Max began development of a television pilot for Comedy Central. [8]
In the Fall of 2007, Max plans to release a new book titled Assholes Finish First. He has stated that he received a US $300,000 advance from the publisher.[9]
Max is the founder of an online company named Rudius Media. The company website states that it is "dedicated to finding, publishing, managing and publicizing new and original content by unknown or under-promoted artists and writers."
