Hi everybody, I'm a Banatian! Banat is my homeland, its capital being Vršac.

My homeland, before the 1918 Serbian aggression

For long has Serbia robbed and destroyed not only my homeland, but also the entire Vojvodina, ever since the creation of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia in 1918. My homeland suffered the same problems as Macedonia, getting split in 1918 by the neighboring powers of Romania and Serbia, and to an extent, Hungary. The immense propaganda spread by Romania on our Vlachs and by Serbia on our Slavs that they are Romanians and Serbs, which are in effect artificial nations, destroyed my homeland. In 1918 Serbia invaded our only true country, the Banat Republic (Banatska Republika), and divided it with neighboring countries.

Yugoslavia has robbed all of Vojvodina, and this can be seen in the speeches of our Radical Jaša Tomić, a former proponent of unity of Banat and all of Vojvodina with Serbia, who clearly said it was a mistake. The Serb-centric leader Nikola Pašić clearly said that he sucked out Banat as a lemon. During WWII the Serbian part of Banat was preserved from destruction by the Germans, but as soon as the Communists took power they not only expelled all our Germans, but returned the old policy. Only in 1971 did Banat start to receive what belongs to it, but in 1989 Slobodan Milošević took that away from us again leading all of Vojvodian to ruins. It is pretty obvious that Banat wouldve enjoyed a pretier world if in 1918 the Kingdom of Romania got the entire Banat, which was a standard democratic principle since the largest ethnic group were Romanians. It has been shown that Romania treated its part of Banat nicely.

The League of Social Democrats of Vojvodina is the key to our political progress!

If Vojvodina's status isn't resolved quickly, after the independence of Serbia's southern province of Kosovo, whose Albanians it mistreated, the question of the Autonomous Province of Vojvodina will be opened, and independence from Serbia might be the only solution. BUT, i'm for an independent Banat under its geographical and historical borders - no division on ethnicity, religious and culture, but a multi-ethnic Banat. Think of it. A free Banat for all Banatians, with its capital in Temišvar.

My homeland has been ruled by all kinds of foreign rulers - the Hungarians, Ottomans, Austrians, Romanians and now the Serbians; it is clear that the only stability that could come from this is a multi-ethnic society of Banat; the policy of EU is regionalization of EUrope, which means that a Banat-entity is a brilliant idea, if Serbia continues to diminish the Banatians. But we all know that the truth is not oppressed for long. In the end, we all find it out the truth. The Banatians will have theirs, just like the Montenegrins got it.

In 2004 Vojvodina (justly) adopted a Coat of Arms and Flag, first steps of its distinct preservation from Serbia. BUT the Flag, which is basically the tricolor, is bad because it's discriminative and offensive to the non-Serb population of Vojvodina. Therefor the tricolor should be replaced and a more neutral flag adopted.

Carasovans

The Krashovans, for long nationalistically claimed by Serbs and Croats, are first and formost Banatians with their unique culture and traditions.

Distinctiveness of Banatians

The Banatians speak a dialect that is a lot different than the standard Serbian language, afaik with enough lexicological reasons for a separate language; truth is that the Banatians use a language known once as Serbo-Croatian improperly, because in its name it just included the two political nations in former Yugoslavia, missing countless others. However due to Serbianization the Banatians, an occurrance that sadly occurred in former Yugoslavia, a lot of Serbian-type words were introduced. If individual tradition of the Banatians is observed, we may well see its cuisine's and clothing's distinctiveness from the Serbs living south of the Danube river, or the real Serbs. Also the Banatians and Serbians share different histories. The 19th century propaganda convinced the Banatians, partially accepted by their elite, to be "Serbs" in an effort to create a Greater Serbia, with plans of expanding Serbia to Banat. If we observe the religious institutions - all Orthodox Churches differ from the Serbian Orthodox ones. It is only in 1920 that the Serbian Orthodox Church included Banat, becoming a proponent of propaganda on assimilation of most Yugoslavian Orthodoxes.
