Skimming has several meanings:
- a very common form of tax evasion involves skimming cash off the top of the daily receipts of a business, converting "the take" to personal use, and thus not paying business or personal income taxes on it. A related crime involves cash-skimming by those handling it, not only to avoid tax, but to conceal it and steal it from one's partners or employers.
