In the first round of the presidential elections held on 21 October 2007 he got 24,54% of the vote, which brings him into the run-off against [[Lojze Peterle]], who got 28,50% .

Danilo Türk (born 19 February 1952) was an Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs for the United Nations. Among other things, he spoke to the Security Council on Israeli/Palestinian issues.
