In the U.S. state of Colorado, U.S. Route 50 is a major east-west route. It crosses the Rocky Mountains, passing over the Continental Divide at Monarch Pass. Monarch Pass is the point where the US 50 reaches its highest elevation, at 11,312 feet. It then follows a path cut by the Arkansas River to the Kansas border. From Granada eastward into Kansas, US 50 overlaps U.S. Route 400.
