The Red Bull Music Academy (RBMA) is an annual international DJ event where up and coming DJs get the opportunity to learn from top industry professionals.

Initiated in 1997, the RBMA is an annual meeting place for professional music figures involved primarily in DJ culture and aspiring producers, singers, and musicians of all types from around the world.

RBMA was co-founded by Many Ameri, Christopher Romberg and Torsten Schmidt, who run a multimedia production company called Yadastar. In 1997, energy boosting beverage manufacturer Red Bull approached Yadastar about implementing some method of fostering discourse about underground dance culture. [1] Originally based in Berlin, the RBMA visits a different city each year, setting up headquarters equipped with production facilities and music engineers.

The RBMA accepts 60 applicants a year, splitting them over separate two-week terms, and providing an intensive, practical learning environment.

Past events have occurred in Berlin (1998 and 1999), Dublin (2000), New York/London (2001), São Paulo (2002), Cape Town (2003), Rome (2004), Seattle (2005), Melbourne (2006) and Toronto (2007).
