"Fig Biscuits and Inspirational Toilet Rolls" is the third episode of Open All Hours second season.

Plot
Arkwright (Ronnie Barker) has to sell two products that he is overstocked, fig biscuits and "inspirational toilet rolls" that have quotations to cheer up the users. His best technique is to hide Granville (David Jason) in the cellar and talk to Mavis (Maggie Ollerenshaw) as the "spirit of a Victorian shopkeeper" that advises her to buy a dozen "inspirational toilet rolls".

Alas, Arkwright falls into the cellar and breaks his leg, but at least he has Nurse Gladys Emamnuel (Lynda Baron) to look after him with a real health condition.

Notes
Granville's handwritten sign at the shop's window: "HELP, I'M BEING HELD A PRISONER AGAINST MY WILL"

One of the "inspirational toilet rolls" quotes: "Don't forget that yesterday was the tomorrow you worried about the day before yesterday".

This episode features one of Arkwright's strangest customers: an English sheepdog.

Quotes
*Six smokers come into the store and buy their "usual":
**Arkwright: Just t-throw the papers on the floor, Gentlemen, my assistant will sweep them all up later, and if he sweeps up a pair of lungs the owner can come and get them later.

*Arkwright's commercial pitch to Mrs Blewitt (Kathy Staff). She buys the fig biscuits:
**Arkwright: The connection between the fig biscuit and honourable womanhood. Don't ask me to explain it, Mrs. Blewitt, but you show me a grocery list without a fig biscuit and I will show you a housewife of doubtful moral rectitude.

*Arkwright and Mavis:
**Arkwright: Scotch Broth, Mavis, that's very exotic? I haven't got a small tin, I'll only have a large tin.
**Mavis: Oh...
**Arkwright: I can't cut it in half Mavis. It all f-flops out. Tell you what. I'll sell you a large tin but I'll only charge you for two small tins.
