Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration (WGSHA) in Manipal, Karnataka, India was established in October 1986 as a unit of Dr. T M A Pai Foundation. In 1987, the TMA Pai Foundation, associated with Welcomgroup, the hotels divisions of ITC Limited. Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration was the first Indian Hotel Management Institute listed by The Council of Hotel, Restaurant Institutional Education (CHRIE). In the academic year 2003-2004, the institute was transferred to Manipal University. Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration is ranked 1st in India by 'Competition Success' Review in 2007.

Welcomgroup Graduate School of Hotel Administration offers 4-year degree course in Hotel Management. It is affiliated with Manipal University.Among its notable alumni are Indian-American Sommelier Rajat Parr of San Francisco, California.

About WGSHA

Keeping in view the real need for professionally trained personnel by the fast growing hospitality industry, the College was established in October 1986 as a unit of Dr. TMA Pai Foundation.

In August 1987 the Foundation joined hands with Welcome group, the hotels division of ITC Ltd., ( a leading corporate sector organization). Welcome group is a progressive hotel chain having linkage with Starwood Company of USA having given its top two brands namely Luxury Collections & Sheraton. WGSHA’s training and development activities are recognized by the International Hotel Association, Paris. From July 2003 it has become a constituent college of Manipal University.

The college has been securing a majority of the top university rankings over the years. Graduates have found positions in hotel chains (Welcomgroup, Taj, Leela, Holiday Inn, Le Meridien), airlines (KLM, British Airways, Gulf Air, Singapore Airlines), travel agencies (Sita travels, Thomas Cook) and other organizations such as Citibank, Blue Dart Couriers, GE Capital and International Services.

On-job training is carried out in the attached hotel, Valley View International. In addition extensive industrial training for six months in leading hotels all over India is also organized.

A dynamic Placement Cell to help students in placement with leading national and international organizations in the service industry.
Has International collaboration with Sheffield Hallam University of UK.
Fully residential College with separate hostels for girls and boys hostel.

Courses

BACHELOR IN HOTEL MANAGEMENT (BHM)

DURATION: 4 years.Candidates have the option of joining the Integrated MBA (IMP) course after the completion of second year.

CITIZENSHIP: Indian Nationals.

QUALIFICATIONS: Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 examination.

ADMISSIONS:Admissions are done on the basis of an all India Manipal University ONLINE Bachelor’s Admission Test (BAT 08). Based on the marks scored in BAT , candidates will be shortlisted to attend group discussion and interview. Final selection will be based on the marks secured in BAT , group discussion and interview.

MSc INTERNATIONAL HOSPITALITY & TOURISM MANAGEMENT (MSc IHTM)

DURATION: 2 years divided into 4 semesters.

QUALIFICATIONS: The candidates who have completed their BHM or BSc in Hospitality Management courses from a recognized University are eligible.

ADMISSIONS:Admissions are done on the basis of an all India entrance test conducted by Manipal University at Manipal.

DIPLOMA IN HOTEL MANAGEMENT & CATERING TECHNOLOGY (DHMCT)

DURATION: 3 years divided into 6 semesters.

CITIZENSHIP: Indian Nationals.

QUALIFICATIONS: Pass in 10+2, A Level, IB, American 12th grade or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 examination.

INTEGRATED MBA

ELIGIBILITY: The course is open only to those who are already studying BE, BHM and BPharm courses under Manipal University. The admissions will be made in the third year of their BE, BHM or BPharm courses. Only those who pass all the subjects upto the second year with an aggregate of 50% marks are eligible to apply.

ADMISSIONS: The admissions are based on the basis of the marks scored upto the second year of BE, BHM or BPharm, Group Discussion and Interview.
