"Inalcanzable"
Song

"Inalcanzable" (English: "Unreachable") is a song written by Carlos Lara for RBD's fourth studio, Empezar desde Cero. Produced by Pedro Damián, it is the first single from the album. RBD confirmed the release of the song at the press conference of "RBD Day" on October 4, 2007. The song was released to worldwide radio stations on October 8, 2007.

Critical reception

"Inalcanzable" was generally well-received by music critics. Rhapsody complimented the song for being a "sweet collective ballad." [1] Rhapsody also commented this album "could signal the start of a more mature phase [of RBD]".

Music video

The video has been confirmed finished. It was directed by Esteban Madrazo[2] and shot on November 7. The video was filmed in an old house at Colonia San Rafael, Mexico City and lasted for 20 hours. The result premiered on December 5th through Estreno Mundial,[3] but leaked onto the Internet the day before though, on December 4 2007. The video was sent to all the most important international TV channels, outside of Mexico.[2]

The video features multiple special effects and shows the RBD members going through a tough time, where very special people come to give them courage and support. These very special people are RBD fans who reflect the message the group wants to give out.

Chart performance

"Inalcanzable" debuted on number 36 in the Billboard Latin Pop Airplay chart in the week ending November 4 2007. The song made a big impact on the same chart the next issue by moving from #36 to #9, being bulleted as the song that increased the most in plays that week. The song was the one with the biggest incease in airplay for three weeks in the chart, ending up peaking at number 2 for a while. In its thirteenth week, it dethroned Juanes' "Me Enamora", which topped the chart for 17 weeks respectively, from the number one position.[4] "Inalcanzable" is their fifth top 10 hit on the Hot Latin Songs, peaking at number 6 in its sixth week charting.[5]

In Latin America the single has become their most successful single to date by been the first and so far the only single from RBD to peak at #1 in the Latin America Top 40[6], beating Rebelde and Ser o Parecer both songs peaked at #2. "Inalcanzable" debuted at #23 becoming RBD's 11th entry on the Chart[7] to jump the following week to #9 becoming the group's seventh Top Ten single[8]. The single is currently at #4.
