Vic was raised by his mother and didn't even realize Victor was his father due to her not wanting him to be raised with the Newman influences. Victor Jr. prefers to be called Vic. Hope discovered that she had cancer and was dying. With both Victor and Vic by her bedside, Hope told Vic that Victor was his father. Vic had always believed that Cliff Wilson was his father and didn't want to believe that Victor could just abandon his child for his whole life. His mothers last wish was for them to be reconnected before she passed away with Vic and Victor at her bedside.

After her passing Victor gives Vic an offer to come back to Genoa City with him and work at Newman Enterprises. After Hope's funeral Vic thinks about selling the farm of which Victor offers to buy it in order to keep it in the family and still offers the job to Vic with no strings to either dealing. Telling Vic to think about it. Vic decided to quit his job in New York and is heading to Genoa City to work at Newman Enterprises with his father Victor Newman Sr..

Vic came for his new job at Newman Enterprises after sneaking in a convercen call while Victor was talking business, thus surprising him with his enterence. Vic accepts the job with the contigency that Victor and everyone else calls him Adam, which he states is his middle name.
