Seal Online (씰 온라인) is a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing game, developed by the Korean company - YNK Partners Inc. As of 7 February 2008, official versions of the game are available in South Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, Indonesia, and the United States.

The English version of Seal Online was expected to be released in Q3 of Year 2005 when Grigon Entertainment announced that there would be an English version of Seal Online.[1] An English website was made by them. However within 2 months, the site closed down and there were no more news of an English translated version of the game.

After two years, a website was created for Seal Online. It had a post announcing the arrival of Seal Online in English to the United States[2]. The English Seal Online was finally released on the 19 November, 2007 at 8pm EST by YNK Interactive.[3][4]

Gameplay

Seal Online is mostly a point-and-click MMORPG; movement, combat, and many other commands are all controlled by mouse. The player can choose from 7 different classes to start with. However, if the player chooses to start with the Beginner, he/she can choose to job change into the other 6 classes when he reaches Level 10.

Seal Online's travel system uses a method called 'Warp Gates'. These gates, located in various towns, allow the player to move to other maps. Players may use scrolls, set revive points, use the Wagon Driver NPC, or just type out a Teleport command for a small fee to warp to different maps.

System

The player can learn skills to trade, open or join a guild after completing a quest, open a chat room, create a party to fight monsters more effectively, open an in-game bank account to hold or collect more items and money, nurture a pet, do quests, and fish.

Seal Online's level up system uses a point method. Skills level up with skill points. Each time a player levels up, they receive a set number of skill points and status points, which they then may use to strengthen their character.

Classes

The choice of class determines which spells the Player's character will receive, as well as which weapons and armor the character can equip.

  • Beginner: The basic character or the "novice" in Seal Online. After reaching level 10, the beginner has the option of advancing to one of the six other classes the game has to offer.
  • Knight: A defensive class specializing in one-handed swords and shields. They are the masters of AoE (Area of Effect) skills, because of the defense their armor provides them. Status points are to be distributed into strength, agility, and occasionally vitality.
  • Warrior: A powerful combat based class. Warriors use two-handed swords to deal massive damage to enemies. Similar to the knight, status points go straight to strength and agility.
  • Mage: One who is devout to offensive magic. Typically have low defense but proportionally powerful magic attacks. Mages focus on intelligence and wisdom to raise their abilities.
  • Priest: A versatile class specializing in both physical attacks and healing magic. They are loyal to holy teachings and live a life of servitude to the gods of Shiltz. Strength, intelligence, and wisdom give Priests their powers.
  • Jester: They share common traits with thieves and rogues of other games, using the dagger as their main weapon, or throwing darts. Jesters use strength and a little of agility and intelligence.
  • Craftsman: Craftsmen can create strong items and refine them to dangerous levels of power. If necessary a craftsman can defend himself against creatures with tools he uses for item creation, such as hammers and wrenches. Luck is used for item creation along with strength for attack power.

Common skills for all classes

  • Sleep: The basic regeneration skill.
  • Trade: This skill allows you to engage in trade with other players.
  • Bank: This is used to create an account at the banks in Shiltz and store items there.
  • Martial Combo: This is the basic form of the combo skill seen in all 6 classes.
  • Seller's Kiosk: The basic vending shop to sell items.
  • Buyer's Kiosk: Players can open a shop to purchase more of the items that they already have.
  • Fishing: There are two types, automatic fishing and manual fishing. Automatic fishing allows the player to continue fishing even if the player is not in front of the computer. Manual fishing will require a fishing rod that can be purchased at an NPC.
  • Emoticon: The basic emoticon skill.
  • Party formation: Players can party with others by using the Party skill or using a feature called "Speed Party" to find other players to party with.
