Stirling Austin Mortlock (born 20 May 1977 in Sydney) is a professional rugby union player. He is the current Australian Wallabies & ACT Brumbies Captain.

His primary position in both teams is outside centre (No.13) and he is the regular goal kicker for both the Wallabies & Brumbies.

Stirling is considered the hardest running centre in world rugby, constantly using his immense strength and sharp footwork to breach defensive lines of his opponents. Stirling’s ability to score tries and kick goals has enabled him to sit third on the all-time list of Australian Test point scorers.

Career highlights include:

  • Captaining the Wallabies to a famous Bledisloe victory in 2007 and to claim the Cook Cup against England in 2006;
  • Kicking the last second penalty from the sideline against South Africa in Durban to clinch the Wallabies’ first ever Tri Nations Championship victory in 2000 and his kick from the sideline in 2006 in Sydney to win the Mandela Plate;
  • In 2002, Stirling was named Australian Super 12 Player Of The Year and the Brumbies' Players' Player Of The Year. Stirling has also won ACT Brumbies Best Back in 2000 & 2004;
  • Stirling sparkled above all others when he played his man of the match performance against the All Blacks in the 2003 Rugby World Cup Semi Final in Sydney. No one will forget his match winning 80-metre intercept try; and
  • Stirling holds the record for becoming the fastest Australian player to reach 50 and 100 Test points and the first Australian to score 20 or more points in four consecutive Tests.
