Mortal Kombat (MK) 8 (working title) is an upcoming scheduled release from Midway Games in the Mortal Kombat series. It is expected to follow the events of Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Epic Games reports that the game is using their Unreal Engine 3 and is being developed for Playstation 3 and Xbox 360.^[1]

According to an interview with Ed Boon, many new fighters will be introduced, and only few "old" characters will return.

Epic Games also lists Mortal Kombat 8 for the PC; however, this claim has been confirmed by the MK production team to be false.^[2]

MK8 might be revealed on April 17th in the Midway Gamer's Day in Las Vegas, Nevada. ^[3] Mortal Kombat 8 was revealed to be Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. ^[4]

UK based Gamesradar.com will reveal a 'rather special exclusive' at 6pm GMT on 18th April 2008 concerning one of Midway's biggest franchises. This article was changed as it originally stated a big fighting franchise. ^[5] & was accompanied by an image of Kintaro & a shadow figure containing a white question mark which was subsequently removed.
