In July 1983, President Mohammad Zia-ul-Haq of Pakistan proposed the establishment of JPBCC during a visit to Japan. In May 1984, Japanese Prime Minister Yasuhiro Nakasone expressed his interest in creating such a committee while on a visit to Pakistan. Following this, the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry began preparations to form the committee, and it was inaugurated in November 1984 to promote bilateral business ties, trade, investment, tourism, and other economic activities.

September 2001
The first Pakistan-Japan Joint Business Meeting and Pakistan-Japan Joint Business-Government Dialogue were held with PJBF.
March 2002
JPBCC hosted a welcome luncheon for President Musharraf when he visited Japan.
March 2005
PJBF and JPBCC held the third Joint Business Meeting and Joint Business-Government Dialogue with PJBF in Karachi and Islamabad.
August 2005
JPBCC hosted a welcome luncheon for H.E. Shaukat Aziz, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
December 2005
JPBCC raised funds for the victims of the 2005 Kashmir earthquake that struck northern Pakistan on 8 October with the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Japan Business Federation, Japan Association of Corporation Executives, Japan Foreign Trade Council, Japan-India Business Co-operation Committee, and Indo-Japanese Association donating JPY 358,884,786 (about USD 3,067,391).
January 2006
JPBCC held a meeting with the delegation of Senator Mushahid Hussain Sayed.
April 2006
JPBCC held a meeting with Dr. Syed Salman Ali Shah of Pakistan, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs and Statistics.
