The purpose of The Select Family of Staffing Companies is to meet the rising needs within the workforce for more temporary and permanent staff. The Select Family has grown significantly into a nationwide firm over the years and currently has more than 300 offices in 35 states around the country, with divisions that touch nearly every area of the workforce.

The Select Family's major divisions include Select Staffing (SelectRemedy in some markets), TradeForce by Select Staffing (construction and trade staffing), Remedy Intelligent Staffing, RemX Financial Staffing, RemX IT Staffing, RemX OfficeStaff, RemX Search & Placement, RemX Engineering, RemX Scientific, Select Truckers Plus, Select Focus (employee leasing), Project Solvers (design), and Select Medical Staffing.[1]

In an average week, The Select Family’s divisions employ over 150,000 people in assignments with their 7,000+ client companies[2] in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing, industrial, clerical, administrative, accounting, finance, information technology, life sciences, construction, trucking, health care, and professional services.

With annual sales at $1.4 billion for 2007, The Select Family is ranked as the 11th-largest staffing firm in the United States[3] and the 21st largest in the world.[4] The company primarily serves clients in the areas of on-site services, risk management, human resources, training, and employment law.

Select Family History

Known originally as Select Personnel Services, Select Staffing opened its first office in Santa Barbara, California in 1985. In the 1990s, the company began an acquisitive growth strategy, purchasing an average of two competitors a year. Since 2000, The Select Family of Staffing Companies has expanded rapidly by buying or merging with well over 50 top staffing firms nationwide, including Checkmate Staffing, First Site Staffing, Staffing Services and Progressive Personnel Services[5], National Careers Corporation, PDQCareers.com and CT Engineering, Ablest Inc.,[6] and Tandem Staffing Solutions,[7] among others.

The company's largest acquisition to date was of RemedyTemp, Inc. in 2006.[8] From this purchase, Select received multiple new divisions and entered into new niche markets, including Remedy Intelligent Staffing (franchise) and RemX Specialty Staffing (finance and accounting, IT, high-end clerical, scientific, fashion/design, and engineering). As a result, The Select Family of Staffing Companies was chosen as the umbrella name for all divisions. As the same time, Select Personnel Services was briefly renamed SelectRemedy (it retains the SelectRemedy name in certain markets), before changing its name to Select Staffing in 2007.

By early 2008, The Select Family continued to grow with the purchase of Resolve Staffing's assets.[9] Through this acquisition, the company ventured into new industries to now include support for health care (Select Medical Staffing), trucking (Select Truckers Plus), fashion/design (Project Solvers), and employee leasing (Select Focus) for clients nationwide.

Select Family Divisions

Select Staffing

Originally called Select Personnel Services, Select acquired RemedyTemp, Inc. in 2006 and was renamed SelectRemedy briefly, before changing its name to Select Staffing in 2007.[10] Since then, Select Staffing has grown through the acquisition of several recruiting agencies that focus on clerical and light-industrial personnel in a wide range of industries.

Workers must go through a five-step screening process that includes integrity screening, formal application, behavioral interview, reference checks and employment eligibility verification, and drug screens/background checks. Applicants must also undergo skill assessments focused on their area of interest, as well as safety procedures.

As a result of the 2007 acquisition of Tandem Staffing, Select Staffing formed TradeForce by Select Staffing division, which focuses primarily on construction and day labor positions. Select has offices nationwide, including locations in New York, Northern New Jersey, Cincinnati, greater Los Angeles, San Francisco, Sacramento, Dallas/Ft. Worth, Memphis, Nashville, and Denver, among many others.

Select Truckers Plus

Born out of The Select Family's buyout of Resolve Staffing's assets in early 2008, Select Truckers Plus, as it was renamed, specializes in driver leasing. Truckers Plus drivers must pass 11 Department of Transportation requirements and maintain current and valid driver qualifications.[11]

Select Truckers Plus has offices in California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas and services clients nationwide.
