A Viagem

A Viagem (The Journey) is a Brazilian soap opera produced by Rede Globo. Wrote by Ivani Ribeiro with the contribution of Solange Castro Neves, directed by Wolf Maya. Aired from April, 11th, 1994 until October, 22th, 1994. At the primetime of Brazilian TV with 167 episodes.

Synopsis

During an assault Alexandre Toledo kills the man who surprises it and try to runaway. However his brother Raul turn him to the police because he believes that's the only way to save his brother Téo his brother-in-law also help and agree with Raul. Only his sister Diná a very pretty and very jealous woman try to defend Alexandre. She goes to famous lawyer Otávio Jordão and ask him to represent Alexandre but he refuse to help Alexandre because the deceased was his great friend. He is condemned to pass the remaining portion of his life in jail. He commit suicide and promise to retaliate those who helped put him in there "in this life or another". With the suicide of Alexandre the doctor and friend of the family Alberto Rezende offer to help Alexandre's mother Mrs. Maroca and all of the family members given the tragedy. Alberto is infatuated with Diná but later return his affection for Estela Diná's older sister. Estela has problems with her teenage daughter Beatriz also known as Bia whom she raise as a single mom since her husband and Bia's father Ismael Novaes left them. He is a drug dealer and promote ilegal gambling. However after years of absence he reappears and it starts to influence his daughter harmful way. Alexandre in another plot starts to torment the life of all fulfilling his promise before his death for example his spirit begins the revenge against his Brother Raul turning his sweet loving mother in law against him and ruining his marriage to Andreza. Meanwhile Teo decide to leave Diná over her insane jealousy and patronising ways towards Alexandre and become interested with Alexandre's former girlfriend Lisa. Diná hold a grudge agaist Alberto blaming him for everything that went wrong with her brother. Alberto is a widower and father of two boys Otávio Junior also called Tato the teenager and Dudu the young boy. He influence Tato to experiment drugs and Tato becomes a drug addict to make Otávio upset. He also become very angry to see his girlfriend dating his former brother in law and puts his business partner against him almost putting him out of business. Its main targets are the lawyer the brother and the brother-in-law. With time Otavio and Diná realized that they are in love with each other and become lovers until the untimely death of Otávio in a car accident provoked by Alexandre. The only person that realize Alexandre's evil dids is the good doctor Alberto who is also a very powerful Medium that tries to make Alexandre see the light and move on from the hell he put himself through by praying for his doomed soul. Bia Estela's daughter decide to leave her poor hard working mother to live with her father that has a lot of money earned by promoting illicit gamble (in Brazil is illegal to gamble) at first Bia like living with the perks of having money and becomes Tato's girlfriend but then she sees how her father makes his money and Tato almost ruining his life over drugs and gambling she runaway. Her aunt Diná becomes desperate to find her and when she finds she suffers a heart attack and die. She joins her great love Otavio in heaven and together they decide to rescue Alexandre from hell and leave the people alive in peace. At the end they become successful saving Alexandre from himself and bringing peace for everybody. Estela marries doctor Alberto and make peace with Bia. Tato get sober and becomes a lawyer like his late father. Raul and Andreza decide to work on their marriage and forgive Andreza's mother. Teo and Lisa get married. There is a subplot with smaller characters supporting the main story.
