The Suite Life on Deck is a spin-off of the Disney Channel Original Series The Suite Life of Zack & Cody. While the first spin-off, Arwin!, was not picked up by Disney Channel, this show skipped the pilot process and went straight to series. Brenda Song, Dylan and Cole Sprouse will reprise their roles for the spin-off. Ashley Tisdale, who plays the candy counter girl Maddie Fitzpatrick will not return as a regular, but will have a recurring role.[2] The show will be set on a cruise ship with the brothers and London attending a high school-at-sea program, while Mr. Moseby manages the ship. The show will premiere on September 26, 2008.[1]

The first promo aired August 17, 2008. Disney promoted it using "The Suite Life on Deck, World Premiere, Coming Next Month".[3] The second promo aired the same day. This time it featured Debby Ryan. Three other promos aired August 20, 2008 which had a video episode from London Tipton's Yay Me show with a sneak peak of the show, and another one premiere with only Zack and Cody while the other one had London, Zack, Cody on with a brief interuption by Mr. Moseby.

Plot

The new series finds London Tipton (Brenda Song), Zack Martin and Cody Martin (Dylan and Cole Sprouse) aboard the SS Tipton, a luxury passenger cruise liner. The cruise liner is owned by London's father. Mr. Tipton is never fully seen in the show. The ship cruises the world with tourists and students who attend classes at Seven Seas High, the one high school that London's dad thinks will make his daughter a better student. Also coming along is Mr. Moseby (Phill Lewis). London learns to live a "fabu-less" lifestyle, including giving up her large closet and having sharing a small room with Bailey Pickett (Debby Ryan[4][5]), a country girl from Kansas. While out at sea, Zack and Cody get into mischief and make friends with Woody.

Characters

Zack and Cody Martin

The Martin twins will be on the luxury passenger cruise liner The S.S. Tipton where they attend classes at Seven Seas High, but still get into mischief. They will make a new friend named Woody. Zachary "Zack" Martin (Dylan Sprouse) is typically the unstudious, outgoing twin, who usually dresses in skater clothes. His brother Cody (Cole Sprouse) is the erudite, mature, and sensitive twin who gets straight "A's". He often plays along with his brother's crazy schemes. He shows less interest in girls than his brother, but he gets most of them. Cody has a crush on Bailey similar to the crush Zack has on Maddie.

London Tipton

London Leah Tipton (Brenda Song) is the daughter of Wilfred Tipton, the owner of the Tipton Hotel and the S.S. Tipton. She is an obvious parody of Paris Hilton, down to the ditzie demeanor and frivolous spending and name of the character (London/Paris and Tipton/Hilton) Although you never see Mr. Tipton fully - usually hiding behind his security force - he is frequently mentioned. London is a dim-witted, spoiled, rich teenager. She dislikes her step-moms and talks to Mr. Moseby about her problems. When happy she usually claps her hands repeatedly while saying her catchphrase, "Yay me!". Though it seems like London may lead the ultimate rich-girl life, her childhood was not perfect. As part of the launch of the show, original webisodes of London's "Yay Me!" are being posted at yaymestarringlondontipton.com.

Marion Moseby

Marion Moseby (Phill Lewis) was the somewhat uptight manager of the Tipton Hotel, then chaperon on the S.S. Tipton. He speaks with a wide vocabulary and an urbane vernacular, and his signature catchphrase is "Good luck with that". Often annoyed by Zack and Cody's schemes, he acts as though he does not care about the boys, but actually has a great deal of affection for them. Mr. Moseby is probably more of a father to London than her own. He said he taught London how to walk, her ABCs, and tried to teach London how to drive, but he was too uptight. He cares for London and treats her like his own and helps her with any problems she is having. He is picky when it comes to the staff and likes everything in tip-top shape.

Bailey Pickett

Bailey Pickett (Debby Ryan) is a girl from Kettlecorn, Kansas. She will be sharing a suite with London Tipton. Bailey is a student at Seven Seas High. She will also be attending classes at Seven Seas High with new friends Zack, Cody, London, and Woody.[6]
