Benjamin Paul "Ben" Amos (born 10 April 1990) is an English footballer who plays as a goalkeeper for Manchester United.

Club career

Born in Macclesfield, Cheshire, Amos has been with Manchester United since the age of 11, signing shortly after leaving Crewe Alexandra. He made his first appearance for the Manchester United Under-18 side on 8 October 2005, coming on as a substitute for Daniel Rose after starting 'keeper Ron-Robert Zieler was sent off in a 2–0 loss to Bolton Wanderers. He was regularly named as an unused substitute during the 2005–06 season, but became a regular starter for the team in 2006–07 after signing a trainee contract in July 2006.

He retained his place in the Under-18 team for 2007–08 and impressed enough to be taken on the club's 2008 summer tour of South Africa.[1] On the tour, Amos did not play, but was named as an unused substitute in all three matches. En route back from South Africa, United stopped off in Nigeria to play against Portsmouth on 27 July 2008, with Amos coming on for Tomasz Kuszczak after 76 minutes.[2] He made his competitive first team début on 23 September 2008 in a 3–1 win at home to Middlesbrough in the League Cup third round.[3]
