I really wish someone would write an artice on Shannon. Unfortunately I am not elloquent nor knowledgeable enough to do it myself.

There was an article on Shannon, taken from BME's wiki, but it was deleted, as he wasn't notable enough.

It was never removed in the first place, the statement above is just one more instance of people attempting to harm the website. All rumours spread on the internet have no place on this wiki page.

Censorship

I don't know why it doesn't give a little disclaimer for the websites. I'm gonna go ahead and add that, and if for some odd reason, you feel as though these links shouldn't come with a warning...

BME Pain Olympics.

I have deleted the reference to the BME Pain Olympics from this wiki article many times and I plan to continue to do so. The latest incarnation of the reference is as follows:

"There is also a video on the internet entitled BME Pain Olympics, which depicts a male dismembering his genitalia with a knife and hatchet. However, whether the video is real or part of the BMEzine is not fully confirmed."

As a long-time IAM and BME member I can personally not attest to the reality of this video, nor do I deny that it or similar content exists on BME. However, I see no reason at all for it to be featured in this article. It's reference is sensationalistic and does nothing but degrade an otherwise well-kept article that manages to keep the admittedly risque content of the BME website out of the wiki. Are there any dissenting opinions? As this is the Wikipedia, I think we need a consensus (and I also don't want an edit war). the infamous rmx (talk) 14:43, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

There's no reason why it should be removed. I'm sure a great deal of people (myself included) only searched for BME due to the video. How is it sensationalistic? If 2Girls1Cup can have its own entire entry, surely the Pain Olympics can be referenced on the entry of its sponsor. James (talk) 03:44, 20 March 2008 (UTC)

If we're going to keep this content then it should be rewritten by someone more competent than any of the editors who have contributed to that section. Personally I think it's just an invitation to vandalism and misinterpretation about what BME is all about: it most certainly is not all about entertaining the masses out there by giving them something to point in disgust at. the infamous rmx (talk) 04:20, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

I just removed this again:

A notable video that references BME is entitled, "BME Pain Olympics: Final Round". This contraversial video features an FAIL "man" tying a string around his penis and testicles before slicing his penis with a knife and then cutting his testicles out of his scrotum by using a hatchet. The reactions to this video can be found on youtube.com. Ike can be seen killing the guy afterwards since he is made of FAIL.

If this BME Pain Olympics: Final Round needs to be a part of the Wikipedia, it is my opinion that it should not be a part of this article. Since it is some kind of internet sensation, shouldn't it have it's own article like that old All Your Base flap, or Chuck Norris Facts or Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny? This apparently influential and important video deserves it's own article, not a mention attached to another (/sarchasm). Just because someone 'only searched for BME due to the video' does not make it necessary to have it as a component of this page. Isn't the big deal about it, for the most part, just the reactions that people have to it on YouTube? Since when is YouTube a valid source? the infamous rmx (talk) 18:53, 28 March 2008 (UTC)

Does anyone know why he did it? Rmx you say you can guarantee it's real, so why did he do it? Money, fame? Did he just want a sex change or is he just plain crazy?

I have moved the BME Pain Olympics: Final Round to its own page. I have been a photographer for several of these events and therefore have a credible knowledge of them. I worked pretty hard on that page, so please do not reverse my edits. There is still a link from the first paragraph to it, so it's not like it's gone. I agree that this little tidbit is a bit random; however, I think it is these random, seemingly meaningless tidbits that make Wikipedia so wonderful. As an example, I was making a mixtape for a friend the over day -- I had pranked this friend by sending him a link to "BME Pain Olympics," so including "Livin' Like a Zombie" (which I was only aware of via this article) was the perfect song for that mixtape.
