The Alacranes Musical hail from the Aurora suburb of Chicago, Illinois. They are all born in Chicago but consider themselves 100% Mexicans.
The group specializes in a genre of Mexican music known as "Duranguense" or "El Pasito Duranguense", which means the "Durango Step".
Duranguense has a fast-paced beat and a cowboy image based on musical traditions from the rugged western State of Durango in Mexico. Many people consider Chicago as the capital of duranguense because there are so many immigrants from Durango living there.
Many believe the musical genre actually originated in Chicago instead of in Mexico. The genre exploded in popularity in the late 1990s and 2000s. Fans enjoy it for its upbeat character and because they can dance very close to their partner. They are the one of the best Duranguense Band.
The members of Alacranes Musical include:
- Guillermo "Memo" Ibarra
- Omar "Teddy Bear" Sánchez
- Oscar Urbina Jr.
- Héctor Urbina
- Rudy Avitia
- René Urbina
- Chris Urbina
- Eric Urbina
Most of the members are from Durango, Mexico. Memo was born in El Xoconoxtle Valparaiso zacatecas. Both Omar Sanchez and Guillermo Ibarra share vocals.
Alacranes Musical are nicknamed "Los Príncipes De La Musica Durangense".
