Barry Bannan (born 1 December 1989 in Glasgow) is a Scottish professional footballer who plays for Aston Villa in the Premier League.

Club Career

2007/08

In the 2007–08 season Bannan scored 13 goals in 32 matches for Villa's Academy team and was pivotal as the club clinched the Academy league title. Furthermore, the Scot netted 1 goal in 10 matches for the the Reserve team as Villa comfortably won the Premier Reserve League South [1] this was subsequently rewarded with a two-year professional contract by the club.[2] In November 2008 he was named Young Player of the Month by local radio station BBC WM, the first Villa player to win the award twice.[1]

He made his debut for Villa's first team on 17 December 2008, in a UEFA Cup group stage match against Hamburger SV, coming on as a second-half substitute.[3] Bannan made his full debut against CSKA Moscow in a UEFA Cup knock-out tie, on 26th February 2009.
