Althorne railway station serves the village of Althorne in Essex, England. The station, which is situated on the Crouch Valley Line, is managed by National Express East Anglia, who also provide all train services. The station is 8 km (5¼ miles) east of Shenfield.

History

Opened by the Great Eastern Railway, it joined the London and North Eastern Railway during the Grouping of 1923. The line then passed on to the Eastern Region of British Railways on nationalisation in 1948.

When Sectorisation was introduced, the station was served by Network South East until the Privatisation of British Railways.

Service

Monday to Saturdays there is an hourly service eastbound to Southminster and westbound to Shenfield for connections to the Great Eastern Main Line with peak time services to and from London Liverpool Street.

Sundays there is an hourly service between Southminster and Wickford with connections onwards towards Shenfield and London Liverpool Street.
