This article is written in British English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, travelled, centre, defence, artefact, analyse) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus.

URLs and accented letters

The article says that accented letters are invalid in URLs. Does that refer to the country code or the whole. I don't think it's invalid, see http://síminn.is. --Stefán Örvarr Sigmundsson 13:59, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ISNIC supports IDN domains (International Domain Names) which are encoded in PUNYCODE. You can use all of the Icelandic characters. Actually, any IDN domain name will be ASCII only in the domain name system and it's up to the application (web browser, e-mail application) to handle the conversion. In PUNYCODE the domain síminn.is is presented as xn--sminn-zsa.is.
