Kamen Rider Kiva (仮面ライダーキバ, Kamen Raidā Kiba) is the primary protagonist and eponymous character of the 2008 Kamen Rider Series, Kamen Rider Kiva. An alternate incarnation of the character appears in the 2009 Kamen Rider Series Kamen Rider Decade.
Wataru
Wataru (ワタル, Wataru, portrayed by Arashi Fukasawa) is a twelve-year-old boy, born of the union between a female human and the Beetle Fangire, who Wataru never knew. Referred to as the Prince (王子, Ōji) by his servants, Wataru is reluctant to claim the title of King (キング, Kingu) of the Fangires. He finds the overseeing of the ceasefire between humans and Fangires a very troublesome and unnerving task due to his fear of making friends and losing control over his Fangire impulses around them. But he gets over this fear and takes his place as the official King of Fangires.
Fictional character biography
Wataru first meets Tsukasa and Natsumi at Kurenai Manor where he is playing his violin. Later during a misunderstanding, Wataru transforms into Kiva to fight Decade, whom he learned of from Kivala as Narutaki told her. Yuusuke arrives and clears up the misunderstanding, offering his aid to Wataru and his task of serving as King. The next day, Wataru is confronted by the Beetle Fangire who intends to become the new King. The Beetle Fangire successfully claims Kivat as his own in the ensuing battle and Wataru runs off, perplexed by Yuusuke's reasons for aiding him. By the time he brings Tsukasa to Yuusuke's aid, he learns that the Beetle Fangire absorbed the Arms Monsters into his armor, allowing him to become Kiva DoGaBaKi Form. After overcoming his Fangire impulses, with Tsukasa making a speech about the boy being an ideal king for perserving the coexistence of humans and Fangires, Wataru takes back the power of Kiva, teaming with Decade to fight the Beetle Fangire. With a Double Rider Kick, the Riders defeat the Beetle Fangire.
