The Ancient Ram Inn is Grade 2 listed building [1]and a former pub located in Wotton-under-Edge (pronounced [ˈwʊtən]) a market town within the Stroud district of Gloucestershire, England. It is believed to be one of the most haunted hotels in the country. This famous inn is owned by and the home to John Humphries. It has been owned by many people since 1145 to present date. Many people lived here either as a tenant or over night guests. This inn was said to have also been owned by a local church when first built. [2]
Haunting Investigations
The inn has been investigated by many paranormal experts. One expert in particular is Kieron Butler from the UK Paranormal Study. The group led by Kieron to study in the Ram Inn, consisted of seven people including photographers and medium/spiritual advisors.[3]
A famous paranormal TV Crew known as Living TV's[4] Most Haunted[5] investigated the Inn with horrific results. Team member Stuart Torevell[6] was assaulted by an unseen force in the "mayflower barn" of the Inn. The attack was so terrifying for Stuart he reflects that it is the scariest place he has ever been, and it is also responsible for his Alopecia[7]. Stuart works along side Yvette Fielding[8] & Karl Beattie[9] whom are producers for Most Haunted[10] and the company founders for Antix Productions[11]. They are also founder of the SKY Digital[12] channel Paranormal Channel [13].
The Northwest Paranormal Research Team (NPRT)[14], based in St. Helens, Merseyside[15], have also investigated the Inn on several occasions since 2004. NPRT's[16], founder Johnathan Prescott believes the Inn is the most haunted Inn he has ever encountered in the near 5 years of investigating the paranormal[17]. Johnathan and the team believe that this location is where they gathered the most evidence in their quest to prove the paranormal[18] is real, and have photographic evidence to prove this. One being the face and part body of a woman appearing to walk through a wall, the second being a "monk"[19] like figure leaning over the bottom of the bed located in the most haunted "Bishops Room" as though praying.
