Corduroy is a 1968 book written by Don Freeman, and published by Viking Press. It tells the story of a teddy bear named Corduroy, who is bought in a department store by a girl named Lisa.

On October 2, 2008 kids, parents and teachers all over read this story in unison as part of the "Jumpstart" program, which has donated thousands of books to low-income communities for children.

Don Freeman wrote a sequel, A Pocket for Corduroy in 1978.

The story of Corduroy continues in Corduroy Lost and Found published in 2006, written by B.G. Hennessy, based on the character created by Don Freeman.

Corduroy was made into a made for television movie in 1984.
