Highway 1 is an Internet Service Provider (ISPs) in Australia.[1], established in 1994. It offers a range of services including: DSL, 3G wirelesss, metro ethernet and fibre optic Internet access, server colocation and private networks - to the business and corporate markets. Highway 1 services are delivered through a nationwide MPLS network with primary points of presence in Sydney and Perth and secondary points of presence in Melbourne, Brisane and Adelaide.
History
1994 Highway 1 started as an Internet Service Provider (ISP) based in Perth Western Australia.
1998 Acquired Perth Internet Services Provider AIP, divested AIP's Kalgoorlie based assets to Gold.net.au
2007 Highway 1 was acquired the ZettaServe Pty Ltd.[2] Board and management are replaced. The company continues to operated and branded as a standalone entity.
2008 Introduction of Naked DSL services through the use of Optus Unbunlded Local Loop Technology. In late 2008 Highway 1 opened a North Sydney office to service the companies expansion into the east coast of Australia.
2009 Highway 1 is selected by the Department of Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy to participate the ISP Live Filtering Trial.[3]

2-Tier DSL Shaping
Highway 1 provides 2-tier shaping for its business customers. Business DSL customers are provided with two download quotas which operate at different speeds. Once the first quota is reached the customer is slowed to a first speed (e.g. 512kbps). Once a second download quota is reached the customer is then slowed to a maximum of 128kbps.
