The Suzuki SV650 motorcycle was introduced in 1999 as Suzuki's low-end entry into the emerging naked bike market and was met with immediate success. With a reasonable MSRP of $5799 in the US, the bike provides a sporty but not extreme ride for the money, and is appreciated by both beginning and experienced riders. Since its introduction, two versions have been in production: the naked SV650, and the SV650S, which is half-faired and features clip-ons and more rear-set footpegs (among other minor differences) for a sportier ride. The bike is very popular with amateur racers due to its low cost, rigid frame, and relative simplicity. The SV650 has a big brother in the form of the SV1000. In 2003 the SV650 was redesigned with a new frame and fuel injection.
