Jonathan dos Santos Ramirez(born in 1990 in Mexico City) is a Mexican football midfielder and plays for FC Barcelona Atlètic. He is most known for being the son of former footballer Gerardo dos Santos "Zizinho", and being the younger brother of Giovani dos Santos and Éder dos Santos. Despite being brothers, Jonathan has stated that he and his older brother have different playing styles. They are both considered to be the future of Mexican football.[citation needed]

Club career

Jonathan dos Santos was brought to F.C. Barcelona when he represented Monterrey in a tournament in France. [1]

He began in the Infantil B, and was rising for the lower categories of the club azulgrana: Infantil A, the Cadete B, Cadete A, and Juvenil B.

In the season 2008-09 he was in the Juvenil A, where he was the captain of the team.[2]

That same season he obtained the Spanish passport, so he became a communitary player, being able to play in the first team. [3]

In the summer of 2009,he was selected by the director of the FC Barcelona Atlétic, Luis Enrique to form part of the final team of the second team azulgrana.[4] Instead, the coach of the first team Josep Guardiola, called him to the first team to carry out the pre-season in England and the tour in the United States with the first team of F.C. On August 15, 2009, "Jona" was called for his first official game with the first team: Supercopa de España, against Athletic Club,[6] although finally was ruled out and saw the game as a spectator.[7]

International career

Jonathan was called by Javier Aguirre to the Mexican national football team on September 22, 2009 to dispute a friendly game against Colombia,[8] which took place September 30. In that game, Jonathan debuted as a starter, and got substituted by Patricio Araujo on minute 72. In that game Colombia won 2-1.[9]
