Veronika Decides to Die is an upcoming drama directed by Emily Young and starring Sarah Michelle Gellar,[3] Jonathan Tucker,[4] Melissa Leo, David Thewlis and Erika Christensen,[5] adapted from the novel of the same name by Paulo Coelho
The setting of the movie is New York instead of the original location of the novel in Ljubljana, Slovenia.
It was reported that Kate Bosworth was previously attached to the project.[6]
Plot
Veronika (Sarah Michelle Gellar) wakes up in a mental institution after a failed suicide attempt. She discovers that she has a weakened heart and only days to live. The film follows her recovery as she finds true love and a newfound will to survive.
Production
Filming of the movie began on May 12, 2008 in New York City and wrapped on June 22nd. The novel was adapted for film by Muse Productions, Das Films, and Velvet Steamroller Entertainment.[7]
