The Staatliche Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe (Karlsruhe University of Art and Design) is a Germany university founded in 1992 by Professor Heinrich Klotz, who also founded its sister institution, the Center for Art and Media Karlsruhe (Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie). The university teaching and research focuses on new media and media art. Departments include communication design, product design, set and stage design, exhibition design, media art, sound, film, video, digital art, 3D animation, media theory, art history, and philosophy.
The current chancellor is Professor Dr. Peter Sloterdijk.
