Janette Turner Hospital (née Turner) (born 12 November 1942) is an Australian-born novelist and short story writer. [citation needed] She is also a teacher of literature and creative writing and has been writer-in-residence at universities in Australia, Canada, England, and the US (MIT, Boston University, Colgate.) [citation needed] She was born in Melbourne, Australia. [citation needed]
She studied at the University of Queensland and Kelvin Grove Teachers College, gaining a BA in 1965. [citation needed] She holds an MA from Queen's University, Canada, 1973, and a D.Litt (Hon) from University of Queensland, Australia, for "services to Australian Literature.) [citation needed] She has won a number of international literary awards and her books are published in multiple foreign translations. [citation needed]
