Biography
Start of her career
In early 2005, Emi traveled to Canada for language studies. While Emi was in Canada she became a member of a street Jazz band. This aspired her to become a singer. When she returned to Japan in 2006 she started composing her own songs. In April 2007 she participated in a music audition and won the MSN Special Jury Prize. [1] Her first single was named Negai No Sora which peaked at the #1 spot on the Indies chart.[2] This single was still under name タワタエミ (TAWATA EMI) and indies label AMUSE, also the single was a limited single. [3] The single sold out and was later released as a track on her debut mini-album ∞infinity∞ which was released under a newly formed label named Techesko. The mini-album charted at the #110 spot on the Oricon chart. Few months after the release of ∞infinity∞ she released another mini-album named LOVE&PEACE which included a collaboration song with DJ KAWASAKI named Into You. Shortly after her second mini-album plans were made for her Tour named Emi Tawata & The Soul Infinity: Sweet Soul Tour 2009[4]
During her tour, in 2009 on 18 March, Emi released her 3rd mini-album named Sweet Soul Love. Along with this mini-album came the collaboration between the popular apparel brand SOULSMANIA. [5]
Maxi single and album
On 12 May the official website announced Emi's first Maxi single named Toki no Sora to be released on the 24th of June. The leading song is a ending song from the quiz show Sekai fushigi hakken and theme song for the roadshow movie Chikujou se Yo.[6] On 30 June the official website announced that Emi would be featured in two songs from the popular techno twins named RYUKYUDISKO. The official website of RYUKYUDISKO confirmed it. The 2 songs are named Starlight Waltz feat. 多和田えみ and てぃんさぐぬ花 feat. 多和田えみ.[7][8] Both songs are included on the album named pleasure. On 22 August Emi announced in her blogs that she would release her very first full-length album named SINGS along with a single named Namida no Oto on the 4th of November.[9]
