Proposed Merge

I propose that Piccolo be merged with List of characters in Dragon Ball. The article has no character reception or and more than 90% of the character is written in universe. Much text about the character within the plot which can be say much easier and faster at Dragon Ball series article SSJ 5 (talk) 01:10, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

Hate to say it but I think you're only doing this because the Yamcha page (which you worked hard on) was merged. Sorry but WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS is really an illegitimate argument. I'm agreeing with Sesshomaru here; Piccolo is in good enough shape to stand on it's own. It needs a good clean up, but what article doesn't? Reception info is hard to get, Trunks (Dragon Ball) is missing it too, but it's enough to condemn the article for.--Koji† 16:39, 20 June 2009 (UTC)

I think I made some good arguments. You can accept them or reject them. Arguments have nothing to do with Yamcha article, although that was the reason for the nomination (it is legit anywayz, because the page is not satisfying). The article is in terrible shape, and cleanup was requested (by me, on DB project) a few months ago, but no one responded. Thus, I think that the article would be a good candidate for a merge. I think he should be called Piccolo Jr. forever. Piccolo Jr. is not his full name. He doesn't have a last name. He never had a last name. He's just Piccolo Jr. the fifth and final nephew of Kami, the fifth and final son of King Piccolo, and the fourth and final brother of Cymbal, Drum, Piano, and Tambourine. He's not King Piccolo reincarnated, because first, he can't have his own child be his reincarnation. That's stupid. And it's the Namekian as one of Piccolo Jr.'s nicknames. You can only say Namek for the name of the planets Namek and New Namek. Piccolo Jr. was only used as the name for a Saga in Dragon Ball. He is never called Piccolo Jr. anywhere else. According to WP:Naming Convention, we have to use the most common name. I said fanfic because you said "in my story and drawings of Piccolo Jr.". Your story and drawing don't matter here. You also claim that it's real, when in reality, it's nothing more than a manga and anime. It appears you'd have to watch/read it to get that he is King Piccolo's reincarnation. The character was always refereed to as Piccolo through the entire series, so that's the name of the character. We are in no position to change the name of the character from that used by the series creator. No amount of fanboy screaming is going to change that. And to correct the IP, Piccolo is neither Kami's nephew or brother. He is the embodiment of Kami's "evil" side which was separated from the main body when Kami took over as the guardian of Earth. Yes if is. To be fair, he's both in a sense, though we more know him as King Piccolo's reincarnation. Before King Piccolo died, he spit out an egg, reincarnating himself. That egg was Piccolo. He did it so Piccolo could continue his goals of world domination. Not to mention Piccolo has all the memories of being King Piccolo (not sure about the English version but he does in that Japanese). Not to mention, in the Japanese version of Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball, early on, he refers to himself as King Piccolo (one scene I remember from the top of my head is when he saves Gohan. He says something along the lines of "I can't believe I, the great Piccolo Daimao, would risk his life for a kid. I'm growing soft.") In the series, both English and Japanese, they never refer to him as Piccolo Jr. The only mention of him being Piccolo Jr. is FUNimations saga title, the "Piccolo Jr. Saga". At the end of Dragon Ball, FUNimation calls him Junior for some reason. During the World Tournament Saga in Dragon Ball Z, they refer to him as "Ma Junior", which is in fact correct. During Dragon Ball, King Piccolo had no idea he was a Namekian, so he though he was a demon, hence the name Demon King Piccolo. Piccolo, being his reincarnation also thought that, so he during both tournaments in Dragon Ball (Japanese Version) and Dragon Ball Z, he uses Ma Junior which translate to Demon Junior.
