Tiger JK

Tiger JK (Korean: 타이거 JK) (born June 11,1974) is a Korean American rapper, record producer, and composer active both in South Korea and The United States. He is the frontman of rap group Drunken Tiger.

Biography and music career

Tiger JK was born in Seoul, South Korea, to Korean parents. At age twelve he and his family moved to Los Angeles, California, where he witnessed the violence between Korean Americans and African Americans during the 1992 Los Angeles Riots; JK was determined to close the gap between the two races with his rhymes. At age sixteen he met Micki Eyes, later to be a member of Drunken Tiger, and performed in a rap festival in L.A. He later caught the eye of Oasis Entertainment of South Korea, got signed, and released his first solo album, Enter The Tiger. The album reached some sucess but due to censorships the songs were banned from being played from radio stations.

Soon after the album Tiger JK and Micki Eyes formed Drunken Tiger in 1998 in the U.S., but debuted in South Korea as well. Although he and Drunken Tiger were covered with massive controversy due to the explicit content, they continued to promote their music and as of today they are one of South Korea's most famous Hip hop groups.

Personal life

Tiger JK was diagnosed with transverse myelitis in late 2004, which led to a two-year hiatus from performing.[citation needed]

Tiger JK is married to singer Yoon MiRae; the couple have one son.[1]
