John Bishop is an ex semi-professional footballer and stand-up comedian from Liverpool. He has also appeared in the E4 teen drama Skins as Mr Fitch, the twins' (Katie and Emily) father. He also has a regular Sunday slot on Liverpool radio station Radio City 96.7 called the John Bishop Sunday Service.

Career

John Bishop performed stand-up comedy for the first time in October 2000, and the following year made it to the final of all the major new act competitions, including So You Think You're Funny, the Daily Telegraph Open Mic Awards, the BBC New Comedy Awards and the City Life North West Comedian of The Year Award, which he won. It has been said that he looks like footballer Jamie Carragher.

Personal life

Bishop is married with three children. He met his wife who was from Manchester when he was living in Liverpool. He now lives in Manchester, and his sons go to St Bede's college. Bishop is known to be an avid Liverpool fan.
