Toonloop is a free software for live stop motion animation[1]. It allows to create stop motion animation, pixilation, and other animation techniques. It is a project of Alexandre Quessy[2] and is done with the help of Tristan Matthews[3]. This software allows experimentations similar to the ones from Pierre Hébert[4], an artist from the National Film Board of Canada.
Alexandre Quessy has presented artistic performances with this software in Canada at SAT[5] and ETS[6] and in Norway during the Piksel 09 Festival[7][8].
Toonloop is released under the GNU General Public License. It has a Debian/Ubuntu package.[9] It uses Pygame[10]. Toonloop has been mentionned quickly at the Open Video Conference 2009[11].
There are several anmations made with Toonloop that can be seen on the web. The toonloop tag on Youtube and on Vimeo is the easiest way to find some. There also some bloggers who talk about it. [12]
