Bunta Sugawara

Bunta Sugawara (菅原文太) is a Japanese actor born in 1933. Sugawara, a very famous actor in Japan, is known to many people as Ken Takakura's rival.

Sugawara's debut came in the 1956 Toho film "Aishu-no machi-ni Yuki-ga Furu". He starred in movies by the Japanese studios Shintoho, Shochiku and Toei.

Throughtout his career, Sugawara appeared in almost 200 feature films, the most famous being Kinji Fukasaku's five-part yakuza epic Battles Without Honour and Humanity.
