Ibrahim Shkupolli (13 October 1966 – 31 December, 2009 ) is the suspect in the Espoo shopping mall shooting that took place on December 31, 2009 at 10:08 local time (GMT+2).[1]
Early life
Shkupolli was born in Prishtina, Kosovo and has resided in Finland since 1998.[2]
Prior to the shootings he had been convicted of possession of a 7,65 mm pistol and cartdridges that fitted the pistol in 2003 and 18 x 9mm cartridges in 2007 [3]
Spree shooting
In the Finnish city of Espoo the 43-year-old man killed five people and himself in a spree shooting. Police officials found the body of the ex-wife of the alleged offender in a private apartment. Four more people were found in a near-by supermarket. The ex-wife was apparently shot prior to the shooting of the four other victims.[4] Shkupolli fled from the mall, and was then searched by the police at Espoo and Helsinki railway stations.
Death
Shortly after the spree shooting, Shkupolli probably committed suicide. The body of a man who had shot himself was found by police officers. [5]
