A band both loved and hated, Usurp Synapse was one of the most undeniably heavy and innovative bands in the Emo Violence scene. Combining fast and frantic grindcore influenced drumming, noise-based guitar work, and raw screams, they set the pace for many bands to come such as Daughters, Textbook Traitors, etc. They released a slew of splits, EPs, and compilation tracks throughout their 3-year career, some with bands that have gone to be legends (Neil Perry), some with bands that have now fallen into utter obscurity (Hassan I Sabbah). Known for creative, sometimes unmarketable packaging (making a penis album cover; including a razor with a record that promoted suicide) and even more unrelenting music, this Indiana four, sometimes six piece will be remembered as a powerful band.

Although it was known the band was breaking up after a few years, they decided to start writing new material as of 2005. Nothing has been released yet but more information on their reuniting can be found on their MySpace page.

(Some members are now in Fax Arcana)
