Fiachra Breathnach is an Irish Gaelic Footballer from Galway. Breathnach plays his club football with Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir from the Connemara Gaeltacht and county football for the Galway Gaelic Football Squad. He is renowned for his inspirational running, workhorse displays and leadership.

Underage Achievements

Breathnach first came to prominence when he was chosen to represent Ireland as part of the International rules schoolboy series of 2004.[1] He also had the honour of captaining the St. Jarlaths College, Tuam senior gaelic football team that year. He then proceeded to win a 'Fresher A' interversity title with NUI,Galway in 2005. Breathnach's most notable achievement to date was winning the 2005 All-Ireland U-21 Football Championship in an amazing final.[2]

Galway Senior Career

Fiachra is a member of the current Galway Gaelic Football Squad. Although he operates as a forward, he is not known as a prolific scorer. Fiachra made his debut under Peter Forde in 2006 as a substitute in a SFC qualifier against Westmeath.[3] The highlight of his senior career to date is scoring a vital goal in the 2008 Connacht SFC final against Mayo.[4][5]

Club Honours

Breathnach captained his club Naomh Anna, Leitir Móir to the Galway Intermediate Football Championship in 2009 and also the Connacht Intermediate Club title[6][7]. Leitir Móir are due to play Cookstown Fr. Rock's from Tyrone in the All-Ireland series on the 24th of January 2010 at Pearse Park, Longford.[8]
