Jamaran is the name of Iran's first domestically produced destroyer launched in early 2010. Iran said that the manufacture of Jamaran and the missile boat Paykan were among the greatest achievements of the Iranian Navy and the destroyer's launch marks a major technological leap for Iran's naval industries.[4][3] It is the first ship of its class. More ships in its class are under construction. The ship is designed for a crew of 120.[5]
Displacement
This class is smaller than the Post World War II built Babr class, a modified Allen M.Sumner Class that displaces 2,200 tons as well as China's, India's, the US's and the UK's destroyer classes in service today.
Weapons systems
The warship has surface-to-air guided missiles, torpedoes, modern naval cannons[3] Jamaran is also equipped with modern radars and electronic warfare capabilities.[3]
The Jamaran appears to be armed with 1 Fajr-27 [1] 76 mm / 3 inch Dual Purpose naval gun, which is a copy of the 76mm OTO Melara [2] plus 1 40mm Anti-Aircraft gun which seems to be a clone of the 40mm Bofors [3]. It also seems to have 4 box launchers for Surface to Surface Missiles. This armament is visible in published pictures and video. [6]
